We are supporting Landmark Protection for an important terracotta art deco building. Small commercial art deco buildings are endangered in Chicago - with several tragic demolitions in the last few years. 5022 North Sheridan is home to Tweet Restaurant and Big Chicks Bar.
The buildings were designed by Austrian American architect Charles Kristen and built in 1937, featuring brilliantly colored terra cotta with a palette related to Joseph Urban’s colors for the 1933 Century of Progress World’s Fair.

The Ward is mostly the Uptown Neighborhood, which is experiencing a large number of tear-downs. Our request is TIME SENSITIVE as the first step toward Landmark Protection will take place on May 16th.
